I remember Kareem would say that he tried teaching the Sky Hook to Andrew but he didn’t want to learn/use it, but this video is evidence that he did put his own spin on what was taught to him by Kareem. Andrew’s hook shot isn’t as pretty or sweeping as Kareem’s, but damned if it doesn’t get just as high if not higher than the old Sky Hook. I had no idea how much he relied on that over the left shoulder hook, and after years of watching centers in the present era simply jacking up three pointers, it’s quite beautiful to watch.
